Luke 2:4-7

4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

One of the most difficult problems to solve in any ministry is, the problem of not being spiritually hungry. It is not that people are spiritually filled. They are filled with something else, but because they are filled with something, they believe they are nurtured, too. Trying to feed the Word of God to those that feel filled already is hard. It takes making them realize first that the things that they have been filled with are less than they deserve as God's children. But often, they like what they are filled with.

Today's passage describes this exact problem. All the rooms have been filled so they couldn't let Jesus in. Only the humblest place that was a manger was blessed enough to receive the King.

The first blessing that Jesus proclaimed as he began his ministry was this: "Blessed are those who are hungry in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God." In order to have Jesus in our hearts, we must become hungry for the heaven. We must realize that we are more than just physical beings. We NEED to experience the spiritual world, through which we can get the energy that will keep us going. There are two different spiritual world. One is the dark realm where Satan rules. Many people get their energy from it. However, their faces never shine. They might get ahead in the world materially, but they are never truly happy. They forget their deepest spiritual hunger for God and keep going toward the destruction.

The other is the heaven. Can we reach the heaven? It is difficult on our own. Christmas means, the heaven visited us, and is still visiting you and me, knocking on the door of our hearts. Is there a room in your heart for the heaven? Let Jesus in, now.
