Hebrews 12:1-3

1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything 

that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 

2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfector of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, 

scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 

3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. 

1) The Audience of One

In this life, we are performers. 

Whether we like it or not, we have an audience, all the time. 

We think that we are sometimes alone in our room. 

That's not true. God is watching you. 

What is interesting is, 

We also want an audience. 

We want to be seen, be heard. 

When we have a good relationship with the audience.

we want to perform well. 

When we love God, and be aware of God's presence, 

even when we are alone, 

We can behave with the motivation to please God. 

2) Looking at the Audience

A great performer is not afraid to look at the audience. 

She interacts with the audience, tries to understand what the audience wants, 

and performs accordingly. 

We will perform before Jesus during this Lent. 

What would Jesus want to see from our performance?

A truthful performance of loving and sharing. 

Jesus applauds our performance when we reveal our true love for Him and for His people

through our lives.
