2 Corinthians 12:8

"... My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

Paul says, "when I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Cor 12:10).

What an ironic statement!

However, it has a solid logic to it.

Paul boasts about his weaknesses that Christ's power may rest on him (v. 9).

A human without the breath of God is but a body made of clay.

A body made of clay is not strong.

=>We must accept this hard fact about ourselves.

No one can boast before God who created all human beings.

Any billionaires who boast about their wealth and power

will be subject to God's judgment.

They are only humans who have limited lifetime before God.

Humility is a required virtue for entering heaven.

Paul's relationship with Christ was beyond intimacy

but spiritual oneness with Christ.

In such relationship Paul's position was that of a servant,

while Christ is the Lord.

The power of Paul's life came from Paul's humble positioning as Christ's servant.

Paul's humble obedience to Christ made Christ the driver of Paul's life.

We know this from Paul's confession in Galatians 2:20,

where Paul says, "I no longer live but Christ lives in me."

If Paul were to be strong in the relationship with Christ,

Christ could not have led Paul.

Christ is the leader but he is such a gentle leader.

If we are not humble and gentle,

we will not be able to be led by the Holy Spirit.

That is why we are strong when we are weak.

Our faith life can be likened to dancing. When you dance with Christ,

you have to allow him to lead your step. And Christ will be able to lead

all the moves and you and Christ will enjoy dancing together.

Amen.
