Then Jesus came to them and said,

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Jesus gave his disciples the last commandment:

"Go make disciples. The love that I gave you is

something that you are not supposed to keep for yourselves.

It is something that you must share, because it will save others,

just as it saved you."

One thing that I learned from the three months of military training is

that the Army exists to achieve missions.

The president, the commander in chief of the entire military force,

gives a mission to the Army. And the Army is doing its best to

achieve that mission.

A battalion receives a mission from the brigade that it belongs to

and the commander of the battalion commands his staffs to accomplish

the mission. Any military unit of any size exists to accomplish a given mission.

A military is a mission-centered organization.

A church is also a mission-centered organization.

We are not just here to have a lunch after the service.

We are not here just for fellowship though fellowship is also important.

We are here because Jesus gave us a mission to accomplish!

What is this mission?

It is mission of love.

About this Great Commission that today's Scripture talks about,

we have a few misunderstandings.

1) We tend to think of evangelism as something

that involves a lot of verbal skill.

It does not require much verbal skill, because it is mission of love.

Love does not require one to speak.

Silent actions of love often speak the loudest.

2) We also tend to think of evangelism as something

that should be done for strangers. Not necessarily.

Because it is mission of love.

You can still achieve it with your family members and close friends.

Don't look too far to find people to minister.

Your family and friends are the ones

that you can influence right now.

You can pray for them in love,

and you are accomplishing the mission of love.

3) We tend to think that it is a mission that can be completed.

Can loving someone be completed? No. Genuine love continues forever.

Letting someone know about the gospel is not the end of this mission.

Jesus said, "I am with you always to the very end of the age."

This signifies that we are going to continue to do this mission until the end.

This means that doing this mission must be our lifestyle.

There was a book titled, "You are guilty if you are not in love right now."

I would say, "if you love someone, you are accomplishing the Great Commission,

even if you are not in a mission field, and even if you are not elaborating on

what the gospel is."

Amen.
